It's birthday silly season in our house - I have all three
children's birthdays within six weeks of each other. The first is my daughters 4
th birthday tomorrow. As usual I have left everything until the last minute. I finished her doll baby carrier today, and tonight I need to make her a super hero cape. I am afraid I don't think I am going to get time to make her an apron now. I haven't even started any party preparations yet...

Hi sweetie, I have not long made my grandchildren capes and the Spotlight books had a neat way of doing it.You measure from the childs shoulder to the knee, cut a piece of string that length. have your fabric folded, pin the string at the top, tie a pencil or chalk in the other end of string and just guide it from the base upward. This will make a shape that has 1 straight side( this is the fold of the fabric and becomes the back), a straight line at the top and a curved edge, cut along the curved edge you just drew, cut a little curve for the neck. All you have to do is to hem all the way around and do ties . I have made these full lined, one side velvet and the other satin for the magicians.Blue and red for wonder woman. And for princesses have bought ostrich feather type trim and put around the neck.We have also had prince ones with beautiful buttons and toggles. You probably have an easier pattern but I have found this one just great. Takes no time at all and you could even get an apron made if you stay up late enough.(have fun) Carole
I'm loving the baby carrier - and *waiting* for the tutorial 'smiles'
that is the cutest baby carrier ever! i know what you mean about leaving projects until you really have to do them, I have a list a mile long and always seem to end up finishing them at the last minute! good luck with the party plans, that's full on having 3 kids with 6 weeks between for birthday planning. we've got 2 within a month which i found hard out enough!
Mine are all in November ! Happy Birthday to all of the birthday children !

That little dolly carrier is divine. You have such an wonderful eye for fabrics and colour. Happy birthday to your little girl. My youngest is turning 4 in a few weeks too. Hope you managed to get the cape, apron and party preps finished without too much stress!
That's wonderful. When such love goes into a present like that baby carrier, I'm sure your daughter is going to love, love, love it.
That is the most gorgeous baby carrier. I love that a child can go from playing 'mummy' to 'superhero' and all within the space of half an hour usually! Good luck for all the birthdays.
Would love a "how to" for the carrier. Am a beginner sewer with a young niece who would love one of these :-)
Cheers,
