What Do You Think?

So I want to finally make my first quilt, but I am not particularly sure about my fabric, I love these two, but as for the rest it certainly isn't my first choice, but all you can readily get your hands on in NZ. So I figure I should just make it!
I plan to make it a scrap looking quilt out of randomly placed squares and rectangles, so there's my first question, will that work?
And I am not sure what colour combination to do either...
1. Do I just stick with my two main fabrics, plus some blue?
2. Or do I use reds and blues?
3. Or does this look better? Just the cowboy fabric with plain reds and blues?

Geppers guys, I really do need your help here. Otherwise I will be going around in circles for days, weeks, years and it will never get done! Please help me!

oooohhh I really like the second combo, in the end it's going to have to be up to you ! When I first saw the top pic I loved that too....Confused ?

Ooh, I love the combo in the picture that's third from the top (or second from the bottom out of the four). Gorgeous!

Go with what you love, fabric wise.
In terms of quilt design, simple squares would be effective and manageable for a first quilt. But if you want to be a bit more adventurous, I think Alissa's style might suit your fabrics.
Have a look at:

Have fun!!!

I like option 3. The red and blue looks really nice together without making it too complicated.

My fav is option 3. I think that combo is quite striking if you are going with squares but I also like 2, you definitely need red to give it more punch!

I think option 3 for me too . Then again I'm just as likely to shut my eyes and do a lucky dip otherwise I'd be going nutty (er)trying to decide .

Hi I like option three but I do also like the one with the dark red in it. Keep us posted in what you choose.

I Like option 3 too - do I win a prize? :)))

They are all lovely fabrics - so don't worry it will look wonderful!

i like the 3rd one too.

Don't know where you are in Auckland, but have you tried tomtomjacks in Epsom? They make great kids bedroom linens and sometimes have ends of rolls or extra rolls of fabric. A bit exspensy but you can get some really quality prints from them:

I'm thinking number 2 but I would also go for the simplicity of number 3. Either way you have got to include the reds, they just pop against those gorgeous blues!

I also love number 2
good contrast & mix of light , med & dark.

Hi Stacey, I would go with either option 1 with the blues, or option 3 with the simple blue and red - loving the red polka dots! Good Luck.

Hey Stacey, I like no.2. plenty of opinion for your scrappy look quilt. Can't wait to see what you choose xox

I like the look of the third grouping, the cowboy print is very sweet so I think the more of it the better.
I know nothing about quilting though so as to whether it will work - I'll leave that to the experts to comment.

I love your main fabrics. I think I would go with Option 1 cos I love just the blues. If not I think Option 2 and go for as many patterns as possible - I like a lot of different designs together!
LEt us know how you get on.

I like option #3. I think using many fabrics make a quilt more interesting. Looking forward to seeing your finished project!

Hi, just to add to the confusion, I would use all the fabrics except the red on the far left of the pic second from the bottom. I would maybe swap it for a white background pattern to give three reds, three blues and three whites for a good balance. Or swap it for the one third from the left in the blue pic, where did that one go? Bet you wish you hadn't asked now! Kate x
