Stacked Coins Quilt Underway

So my house is trashed and I really need to get on top of the washing so I can start packing for our holiday, but this quilt wont let me...
I cut all the pieces over the weekend and sewed it together today - naughty! I just couldn't wait see how it was going to look. It's done now so I can get back to what I am meant to be doing. I am really happy with it, other than being a bit loud, I am hoping white sashing and borders will calm it down.

Thank you to everyone who gave me some more ideas about where to go in Melbourne. Can anyone recommend a good Italian restaurant, now I know there a lot, but I am sure there are some favourites...

White sashing is absolutely the way to go.
Isn't it crazy how some projects simply won't let you get any housework done!!! Go figure!

Looking good! Love white sashing on quilts. How big have you cut your coins and what size will it end up? I am wanting to make one for my sister xox

Hi Stacey. There is no template for the bags. Just cut a rectangle twice the size you want and add seam allowances. I was only showing Hazel how to do French seams on a bag.

Hi there, I left you a comment earlier about Italian restaurants but I think I forgot to click a button! silly me. You should try Woodstock in Nicholson St, Nth Fitzroy. They have the BEST pizzas ever & mind blowing gnocchi. I highly recommend it. But you'll find lots of lovely italian eateries in the Carlton area too, try Brunetti's for cake & coffee, yum! xox

Trotters on Lygon Street in Carlton is one of my favourites. There are heaps of Italian places on Lygon Street so definitely worth a visit, but they are not all good!
Sonny & Coco is a good market, of course I'm a tad biased as I have a stall there hehe.

These two are not in the city but both in Kew which is only 10-15 minutes in a taxi, and they are both great. Mamma's Boys is old-style Italian fare, hearty dishes.
Di Palma's - also Kew is more modern food, risotto, pizza and pasta - very open clean and stylish restaurant, view their menu online.
Otherwise Lygon st Carlton - dozens there to choose from!

The quilt is going to look fantastic!

Il Gambaro's on Lygon St is one of my favourites. It's cheap, cheerful, very old fashioned and I think the mob own it ;-)

You can also try Ti Amo (I think that's the name) on Lygon St - there's one on both sides of the road, from memory.
