Lunch With Friends

We had a picnic outside on the deck for lunch today in the glorious hot autumn sun, it was all rather lovely.
And here is my cop out quilt! It is a picnic blanket for my daughter and was meant to be my first quilt that I have made (excluding the odd pillow). Anyway I totally piked out and only ended up sewing all the squares together, then my grandmother-in-law did the binding, backed it and got it professionally quilted. So it's all rather sad really.
The back has the loveliest ballerina print. I was just a bit guttered the edging was done in different sizes.
We popped down to the beach for an hour this afternoon and a fluffy just got spilt all over it, so we'll see how it's first wash goes. I'm sorry the photos are a bit blurry and wish washy, it was just soo sunny outside when I took them.
And here's my crochet update. All the loose ends tidied up and only three more squares to go until I can start to crochet them all together and learn how to do the edging.

Not a sad quilt at all!!! Beautiful. I love the crochet you are doing. I have been looking for a granny afghan blanket for my daughter. No time to crochet like that :)

The quilt is lovely, not sad at all. And how clever if that crochet - well done. As my knitting is a nightmare, I am too scared to try one hook!

Thanks for visiting my blog today. Rach

Hi there, thanks so much for popping by and for your comment! I LOVE your quilt, you clever thing!
Re: The Creative Family Book - I really like it. It has some very simple ideas that are easy to implement. If you don't want to buy it, why don't you ask your local library to order it in for you (I note you're in NZ too!). I'm sure they will then you can have a look before buying! (it helps too that I've been following the Soulemama blog for a while too!)

Your quilt is gorgeous! At least you did most of it! I've been thinking about making my first quilt for a while now but keep putting it off because I'm too intimidated - it jsut seems like too big of a project! That beautiful quilt has pushed me a little closer though...

that might inspire you to do it yourself next time!

Thanks for your comment anonymous...I hear you..and you’d think it would inspire me wouldn’t you? Let’s see how the next one goes. But I think it’s always going to be too tempting with having a professional patch worker in the family. Plus it’s also kind of special that my daughter has collaborative work from the pair of us.
