Zippity Zips
This afternoon I picked up a whole heap of craft books that I requested from the library. So I am about to go and make a cup of tea and have a good flick through them. Titles include: the creative family, softies, toys to sew...I could be a while.
That's one thing I still need to tackle... my first zip! arrrggghhh!
ReplyDeleteEw, zips are so scary. I've only done one, and it was in a supportive class environment, but I'm still petrified of them! Yours looks very stylish :-)
ReplyDeleteWow that's a fabulous job for a first effort. Cute fabric too!
ReplyDeleteLovely! I've bought a zip too (at the market yesterday) but I think I'm going to cheat and sew it in by hand. I am so out of control on the sewing machine! So I think you've done a fantastic job.
ReplyDeleteThats hilarious. I cant believe we basically made the exact same things - we obviously both have an awful lot of good taste.
ReplyDeleteYour zip looks great - onwards and upwards I feel.
{apologies if you get this message twice...as I commented about 10 minutes ago but dont know where it went....its been a long day!}
Looking forward to seeing more of your creations.
Amanda :)
I recently discovered the joy of zips. Check it out:

I'm a sewer and I must say you did an immaculate job for a first zip. well done keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteooooooo...zips! I get headaches just seeing this word! You get points for finishing this zippered project!
ReplyDeleteYour zip looks gorgeous and very professional :)
ReplyDeletePlease tell me thay are easy, I would so love to make little make up bags and cute things for my daughter
Lovely, inspirational Blog you have ;) By the way our DS wasn't a good sleeper, he was born 11 weeks early and have been told that sometimes Premature babies can be difficult sleepers. We did everything, he is much better now at two ;)

Stacey I don't remember you saying you had NEVER put in a zip before! Anyway if I had told you it was really difficult you wouldn't have attempted it. Now you can say you've done it and be proud of yourself! It looks great. Maybe you can do a buttonhole next!! Now they are fun.
ReplyDeleteooo you did a good job for your first try! I love the curved top, very sweet!
ReplyDeletepretty good effort! I avoid zips...press studs, velcro, buttons, ties and really should just tackle them. At sewing classes my teacher would always be there but now I'm on my own
ReplyDeleteI just ordered some new labels from cash's (www.cashs.com.au) and there is another company in tasmania that I got my current labels from and just do an internet search on woven labels. I'm going for white labels with red running writing for my new labels so I have both black and a girly one! I think its nice to finish things off with a little tag!
Corrie:)
I just reread my comment and it didn't sound too nice but that is a very good first zipper!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCorrie:)
Hi just popped in for a visit , love your blog .
ReplyDeleteI have never done a zip. I think your bag looks fantastic - so well done. I'll have to tackle my fear of zips one day soon.
ReplyDeleteOnce you do your first zip, there's no looking back. I think yours looks great and the fabric is really pretty. Funnily enough, my next project also requires a zip - a make up bag.
ReplyDeleteHi Stacey! :-)
ReplyDeleteI have just read your entire blog!!! he he he... your photographs are stunning, and I love the look and feel of your blog, all bright and fresh!
Funnily enough, I have also bought a second-hand cot for my nearly-four year old daughter, and have been meaning to make a quilt and pillow for it for .... about a year! You have inspired me!
Your zipper looks great - I know what you mean, they're a bit scary aren't they?! You've done a fantastic job!
Warm wishes,
Vikki :-)
Hi, thanks for your lovely comment on my blog, glad you liked the card ;o) Love the purse you made, haven't been brave enough to try zips myself yet. Off to have a mooch around your blog, it looks fab x
ReplyDeleteI have a real problem with zips too, actually I posted about it not long ago. I've tried many times and haven't finished one I'm happy with yet, its really frustrating!
ReplyDeleteThis is your first zip- looks terrific! I haven't tackled a zip yet...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your craft books!
Ooh, well done on your first zip! It looks great.
ReplyDeleteI have some of that YUMMY fabric at home...
ReplyDeletewell done on the zip, I'm a little scared of them too!
I thought I'd commented on this lovely little purse, but obviously not! How rude!!!! To get a zip inserted so perfectly on your first attempt is amazing! I'll have to get the pattern from you. Do you think purses of various sizes would be good to store Es' bit and bobs in? Like Polly Pocket and Puppy in my pocket? I need a system!!!!!
